Hurricane Sandy, be prepared in case your cell phone gets wet

super storm threatening 50 million people in the most heavily populated corridor in the nation gained strength Monday, packing winds of 90 mph and picking up considerable speed just hours before it is expected to make landfall, forecasters said.
The National Hurricane Center said Monday morning that Hurricane Sandy is moving northwest at 28 mph - up from 18 mph a few hours earlier. At 2:00 p.m. ET the Category 1 hurricane was centered about 175 miles south-southeast of New York City, or about 110 miles southeast of Atlantic City, N.J. Hurricane-force winds extend up to 175 miles from the storm's center, with tropical storm-force winds extended outward up to 485 miles.
With all the storm preparations going on make sure to be prepared in case your cell phone gets wet. Have a wet cell phone emergency kit on hand and if your phone does get wet stick it in the bag asap. This will save your phone and allow you to stay in contact with your loved ones.

Wet Cell Phone Story # 78

We get some great customer stories every day. I think they are all great but today was one of my favorites.  A woman called that is in training for a Spartan race. I am not sure if you are all familiar with what that is, but it is basically a race with a bunch of great obstacles in it, crawling through mud under barbed wire, climbing slippery walls, jumping over fire that type of thing. She was calling from here in AZ where we have been getting some great monsoon thunderstorms at night the past few nights in a row. The wet nights make for great training outdoors in the morning with cloud cover and much cooler than our normal 100 degree temperatures. So she was training outside with her three year old strapped in to the jogger, three miles into her run her son got squirmy. She got her iPhone to play some cartoons for him and set off on her way again, at mile five they came to a deep puddle her son was so excited she couldn't resist and ran right through it . In true Spartan form never letting an obstacle like a giant puddle stop her. Unfortunately her son had her beloved iPhone sitting on his lap and it got completely soaked. She got a Wet Cell Phone Emergency Kit from Radio Shack and placed the phone inside. It has been 48 hours and all is well with the phone that was once soaked and thought to be a goner. We are glad to help get a fellow Spartan and her phone up and running again.

DRY-ALL Successfully Dries Wet Cell Phones Where Other Remedies Fail

In a world where we are all completely and utterly obsessed with our cell phones it is not surprising to hear the recent finding of a survey done by Telenav. 70% of people surveyed would rather give up alcohol for a week than go without their phone for a week. One third of all people would rather go without sex for a week, 63% would give up chocolate, and 55% would rather avoid caffeine than go phoneless for seven days.  After hearing the results of this survey it makes sense that when a cell phone gets wet people are in a rush to dry it out. There are many remedies out there. DRY-ALL is a one of a kind absorbent that uses blue bead technology ™, a sixty year old family secret to dry wet electronics. It is unlike anything else.
DRY-ALL is the fastest, most effective way to dry a wet cell phone it is independently tested and proven to work. There are lots of do-it-yourself techniques to save wet cell phones. They do not dry quickly and effectively like DRY-ALL. DRY-ALL works by using their proprietary blend of absorbents that rapidly suck up moisture and lock it in. Unlike silica DRY-ALL traps moisture inside and absorbs to full capacity. Silica absorbs and releases moisture and never reaches full absorption capacity.

Some do-it-yourself remedies like rice and heat can actually cause more damage to a wet cell phone. After 48 hours of testing with rice in a sealed container, the phone still had water droplets inside. Rice itself does not have a high absorption rate of moisture. Rice absorbs moisture and becomes sticky when cooked due to the rapid heating of the starch itself, but when rice sits sealed with a wet cell phone  at room temperature it does not pull moisture out of the circuitry of the soaked phone. In most situations this home remedy can cause irreparable damage to your phone by allowing the water to sit inside your phone for too long before it dries on its own. This solution often results in replacing the phone and all information such as contacts, emails, music, and applications. Other techniques that are commonly suggested when a cell phone gets wet is a hair dryer, using a clothes dryer, placing in direct sun near a windshield, or using an oven to dry the wet phone. A cell phones inner circuitry is extremely delicate and held together by tiny solder points. When you use any source of heat on your phone directly it melts these tiny solder points causing damage to the inner workings of your cell phone. Melting the internal solder on your phone could cause the wiring to come loose and your phone will have damage that cannot be repaired easily, inexpensively, or sometimes at all. Using heat as a solution results in replacing the phone and all information such as contacts, emails, music, and applications.

DRY-ALL can meet any challenge, successfully drying out phones that have just been splashed and phones that have been submerged for up to 45 minutes. DRY-ALL works best when it is used right away, but has saved phones days after the initial soaking. DRY-ALLs’ Wet Cell Phone Emergency Kit dries phones in 48 hours. For those that cannot wait that long DRY-ALL has a Wet Smart Phone Emergency Kit that dries phones in a short 6 hour time frame allowing you to get back to your hectic life, phone in hand. No matter what type of liquid soaks your phone, such as beer, soda, juice, salt water, coffee, milk, or sports drinks, DRY-ALL can dry it out.

The fastest most reliable way to dry a wet cell phone is no stranger to saving important electronics. DRY-ALL has been saving sensitive electronics since before WWII. DRY-ALL products were used during WWII to keep important military equipment dry during overseas shipments. Later DRY-ALL was used by NASA. For the past fifty years DRY-ALL products have been removing damaging moisture from the inside of hearing aids giving them as much as double the lifespan. Today DRY-ALL is in the business of saving consumers’ wet electronics at home with their easy to use Emergency Kits.

DRY-ALL is available at Radio Shack stores Nationwide as well as Pep Boys and several online retailers. http://www.dry-all.com

Tips to protect and save gadgets from water this summer

According to a recent survey that was conducted by Google, summer is the season when cell phones, Smartphones, tablets and e-readers are most likely to get wet. Forty three percent of people surveyed said that summer is when their gadget got soaked. There are several precautions that can be taken to prevent your beloved gadgets from getting wet and now there is a way to save your gadgets even after they do go for a swim.
If you know that you are going to be near the water there are several precautionary measures that you can take to “waterproof” your phone. Dry CASE is an airtight sealable plastic container that makes it so your phone or tablet can be used safely in or around water without worrying if it falls in. There are also cell phone cases that make your phone or tablet waterproof, for example Lifeproof or Otterbox waterproof cases. These are all great options, but what if you are near water and your phone or tablet is not protected by a waterproof bag or case? There is now a way to save your wet gadgets that have been fully submerged or just splashed unexpectedly. DRY-ALL makes three drying products that can revive even the wettest of gadgets.
We can’t always be prepared for our gadgets to get soaked by having them in waterproof casing. You just never know when an impromptu pool party might pop up, or if your toddler may want to see if your iPhone can swim in their bath. It is a comfort to know that even if you don’t have your phones waterproof case on, your gadget can be fully recovered using DRY-ALL’s one of a kind drying technology. They make three different types of drying kits: The Wet Cell Phone Emergency Kit, The Wet Smartphone Emergency Kit, and the Wet Electronic Tablet Emergency Kit. The cell phone kit is a zip top bag that completely dries cell phones or smartphones in 48 hours and can be used once. The Smartphone kit is a sealable hard plastic case that completely dries cell phones or smart phones in as little as six hours and can be reused to save up to five phones, perfect for a family or the accident prone. The tablet kit is a zip top bag that completely dries all tablet PCs and e-readers in 48 hours and can be used once.
Saving a gadget that has already been soaked is easy. First you stop the flow of electricity to the item by removing the battery or turning the item off if the battery is unreachable. Next you wipe off any moisture that is still on the soggy item and then place it in the bag or container depending on which product you are using. Finally you seal the bag or snap the container shut and wait the recommended amount of time. Your item will be dried out and ready for use.
DRY-ALL works by pulling the moisture from the innermost circuitry of your cell phone using their one of a kind drying technology that is made right here in the USA using the same family recipe that the CEOs grandfather invented 60 years ago. Their technology has been used to keep sensitive military equipment dry and used by NASA. You can find DRY-ALL at Radio Shack and Pep Boys nationwide as well as at several pool stores and online at over 30 retailers.
