Wet cell phone tip # 27

I hope you all had a great fourth of July yesterday. It was a great long weekend, along with all the family get together and BBQs there were quite a few people getting in the water to cool off. The phones here were ringing quite a bit with people looking for advice on how to save their wet electronics. I feel like our employees were giving the same advice all weekend long, DO NOT HIT BUTTONS ON WET ELECTRONICS!!! I am not sure why everyone loves pressing buttons on wet devices but it is a sure way to fry your electronics. Think of it like a hairdryer, if a hairdryer falls in to the tub you would never plug it in to see if it works. That is essentially what is being done when the buttons are pressed on wet cell phones, ipads,or other small electronics. The solution is simple when a cell phone gets wet

  • do not press any buttons

  • remove the battery if possible

  • place in the wet cell phone emergency kit (available at a Radio Shack near you)

  • wait 48 hours

  • replace batteries

Now that your device is completely dry you can press buttons all you want ;)
